Boka W. Hadzija Award for Distinguished University Service

The Boka W. Hadzija Award for Distinguished University Service — one of the Chancellor’s Awards at Carolina — recognizes a graduate or professional student who exemplifies the following characteristics:

Dr. Boka Hadzija, Professor in the School of Pharmacy, established this award in 2000 in honor of her students. One student per year receives this award.

The Graduate School will recognize the recipient with a cash award and plaque at the annual Graduate Student Recognition Celebration. The recipient will also be recognized at the annual Chancellors Awards Ceremony.

Eligibility

Currently enrolled graduate or professional degree-seeking students are eligible for this award. Students may not nominate themselves.

About Dr. Boka W. Hadzija

Dr. Boka Hadzija was known and admired throughout campus as an award-winning teacher and mentor, having earned the 2005 C. Knox Massey Distinguished Award and no fewer than 39 awards from the School of Pharmacy and University. She exemplified excellence in scholarship, leadership and service to Carolina. In recognition of her numerous contributions that have advanced the University, she was inducted into the Order of the Grail-Valkyries, Order of the Golden Fleece and Order of the Old Well. Dr. Hadzija, who died in 2013, is remembered by students and faculty for her strong mentorship, her generous support of students and her outstanding leadership. Dr. Hadzija always demonstrated tremendous strength of character and a deep commitment to serving her students.
